Learning To Drive A Manual Vehicle
So many times we have had drivers, who have learnt in an automatic vehicle, ring up and say, " I now have a job which involves driving a manual vehicle, can you help me?" A manual vehicle is quite different to drive than an automatic and it's therefore important to learn to drive one correctly. Manual cars, vans, utes and light trucks are still popular with trades people, businesses and councils. Truck licence holders need to know how to drive manual vehicles. 1. Control of the vehicle by using engine braking. ie:- Gearing down through the gears which reduces brake wear.
2. Better fuel economy.
3. Cheaper purchase price and repair cost.
4. Manual drivers, have to anticipate traffic situations well in advance, in order to be gearing down, to slow down the vehicle. Anticipation is your greatest tool when driving.
5. It's easier to control your speed, especially in down hill situations, by staying in a lower gear.
6. If you know how to drive a manual vehicle, you can just about drive any vehicle.
