Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How many lessons will I need?
A. It all depends on the candidates ability. After getting the learner out in the traffic it takes at least 6 lessons to get through the full syllabus. The average is about 10 lessons but additional lessons may be needed to build confidence & the ability to search & identify hazards. NZTA recommends 120 hours of driving before sitting the restricted licence. This can be done with Mum, Dad or friends, plus some professional tuition.

Q. What do I need to have before I take lessons?
A. A new Zealand learner licence or overseas licence.

Q. Do you have a female instructor?
A. Yes. Bev teaches in the automatic vehicle & Colin teaches in the manual vehicle.

Q. Will you take me around the test route?
A. There is no fixed test route but we will take you to the area where you are tested.
We don't just teach our clients to pass a test!!! We take you all over the North
Shore through every possible intersection, roundabout, traffic lights & all situations
you may encounter when driving.

Q. Can I be picked up from school or work & dropped off at home or my mates
place?
A. Yes. Provided it isn't too far and doesn't inconvenience the instructor.

Q. Can I use my own vehicle?
A. Yes, but we prefer at first in our vehicle as we don't know what skill level you are at & we have dual controls in our vehicles.
